Scripture Reading: Esther 6–7

The God Who Works While We Wait

In the quiet of the night and the tension of the banquet, two worlds were colliding. While Esther was on her second day of feasting—following three days of fasting and prayer—Haman was busy in his backyard, fueled by a toxic hatred for Mordecai, constructing a 75-foot instrument of death.

While Haman was building gallows, God was keeping the King awake, prompting him to read the royal chronicles and honor Mordecai. God is always at work in His sovereign way, orchestrating details we cannot see to bring about a deliverance we cannot yet imagine.

Reflect: Where do you feel God is silent right now? Can you trust that He is working “behind the scenes” of your current struggle?

Grace Under Pressure

When the moment of truth arrived, Esther didn’t let panic dictate her words. With remarkable poise, she appealed to the King for her life and the lives of her people. She spoke the hard truth while maintaining a spirit of favor and respect.

Her calmness was rooted in the three days she spent seeking the Face of God before seeking the face of the King. When we report our discouragements to God first, we gain the wisdom and “quiet strength” needed to face the systems or individuals that threaten us.

The Ultimate Reversal

The most striking moment in this passage is the irony of the gallows. The very weapon Haman built for the innocent Mordecai became the instrument of his own end.

This points us directly to the Gospel. We were all destined for destruction because of our sins, but Jesus chose to step into our place. He took the “gallows” of the cross—a symbol of a curse—and turned it into the means of our redemption. As it says in Galatians 3:13, He became a curse for us so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit. Our situation hasn’t just been improved; it has been completely reversed.

Moving Forward in Faith

If you feel cheated by systems or targeted for your faithfulness, do not retreat into silence. Now is the time to align your heart with God-centered goals and take your petition to the Throne of Grace.

  • Don’t wait: If you perceive an obstacle, pray today.
  • Trust the process: God understands the complexities of your workplace, your family, and your heart.
  • Expect deliverance: He is the God of the “Overwhelming Deliverance.”

A Prayer for Today:
Dear Lord, thank You that You never sleep. When I feel surrounded by the “gallows” of life’s pressures, remind me that You have already won the ultimate victory on the cross. Give me courage to speak and the faithfulness to stand. I trust Your timing and Your sovereignty. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
