Day 28: Defining Reconciliation (Recap)

The Oxford English Dictionary defines reconciliation the end of a conflict with someone and the start of a good relationship. It provides a second definition as the process of making it possible for two different ideas or facts, to exist together without being opposed to each other.

God Wants us Reconciled to Him

Reconciliation is significant because God initiated it by sending His son to bridge the gap between Him and the people he created. Here are three verses to show that:

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”

2 Corinthians 5:18-20

“For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”

Romans 5:10

“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”

Colossians 1:19-20

God also wants us to live in peace with each other

God also wants us to live in peace with each other. Here are two verses to show that:

“Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”

Psalm 34:14

“18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Romans 12:18 (NIV).

Reconciliation is a continuous lifestyle, making sure to cease conflict with God and people.

Reconciliation is for everyone, everywhere – being at peace with your neighbors despite your differences; whether at home, in the community, and with other people whether from far or near.

Set the example by focusing on efforts that bring sustainable peace. Monitor issues that compromise your personal reconciled lifestyle and deal with them. God will reward you for setting a good example and being His reliable ambassador of peace.
